Metro cops go on full alert for Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines — Churches and bus terminals in Metro Manila will be the focus of tight security monitoring as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) goes on full alert during Holy Week, NCRPO chief, Major General Guillermo Eleazar said on Tuesday.

“Mag raise tayo ng full alert doon,” Eleazar said in an interview with Radyo INQUIRER.

“Ito pong Semanta Santa, ‘yung week na po na ‘yun particularly mga Wednesday hanggang Monday, ayan na po magbabantay na po tayo and we will maximize the visibility,” he added.

Eleazar earlier said a total of 11,600 police officers will be deployed to secure Metro Manila over the Holy Week.

“Pagdating ngayong Semana Santa, ito naman naman pong mga house of worship, itong mga simbahan natin in particular, ‘yan po ang ating bantayan after po dito sa mga terminal,” he said. /muf
