Retired fireman shot dead in Tuguegarao City

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — A retired officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Gattaran, Cagayan was shot dead by an unidentified motorcycle-riding gunman on Tuesday morning, police said.

PO2 Romel Contillo, Tuguegarao police investigator, said Nelson Balunggay was on his way home when he was attacked by the assailant in Cataggaman village here.


Balunggay sustained gunshot wounds in the head and body and died while on the way to the hospital. Investigators said the gunman escaped. /ee
