Earlier this week, a captivating video of falling fibers from the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ kapok trees captured the attention of netizens. But right at the moment, netizens have also started to take notice of Malaybalay’s golden trumpet trees.

“Aside from the cold weather and warm people, these trees are one of the beautiful things Malaybalay City could offer,” Malaybalay Youth Catalysts stated in a Facebook post on March 12.

The photos were taken by netizen Romnick S. Tagalicod on Monday, March 11 when he passed by Bukidnon National High School.

“Talagang inaabangan namin yan kasi pag dumadaan ka talagang mapapansin mo yong golden trumpet marami pa po yan sa highway ng Malaybalay,” he said.

(We really look forward to that, because you would really notice the golden trumpet trees along the highways in Malaybalay, and there are a lot of them.)

Tagalicod also said that the trees bloom every summer, typically from “February to March.” He also compared their city’s beautiful tree to cherry blossom trees in Japan.

“Sa Japan may cherry blossoms sila, ang Malaybalay may golden trumpet,” he said.

(If Japan has cherry blossoms, Malaybalay has golden trumpets.)

In another Facebook post, Aice Belican, creator of Tugpo Aerials Facebook page, also shared his captivating aerial shot of the Bukidnon National High School, with the shot emphasizing the golden trumpet trees.

The golden trumpet trees can be seen around Malaybalay, along the city’s “Plaza Rizal Park, Kaamulan Grounds, Casisang Highway and Laguitas Highway,” as per the locals. JB
