Runway woe scuttles Otso Diretso sorties in Isabela

MANILA, Philippines — The opposition Otso Diretso team has called off its scheduled campaign rally in the province of Isabela.

In an advisory on Thursday morning, the opposition said they decided to cancel the campaign sortie as the plane carrying its candidates failed to get clearance to land “due to low visibility in the runway.”

The opposition senatorial candidates were scheduled to be in Cauayan City, Isabela and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

In a separate advisory, Otso Diretso said it would try to rebook the candidates on a flight to Cagayan on Friday to push for the Tuguegarao sortie.

Opposition senatorial bets Romy Macalintal, Erin Tañada, Pilo Hilbay and Samira Gutoc were expected to attend the said events while reelectionist Senator Bam Aquino, Chel Diokno and Gary Alejano sent their respective representatives. /cbb
