2 motorcycle-riding gunmen slain in Quezon

‘High-value’ suspect dead in Laguna shootout

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding gunmen were killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in Tayabas City in Quezon province early Thursday, police said.

Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said the still unidentified fatalities opened fire at the attendant of the PTT gasoline station in Barangay (village) Baguio at about 4 a.m. for no apparent reason. The suspects missed their target.

The gasoline workers reported the incident to the police, who immediately responded.

Policemen reportedly engaged the gunmen in a shootout in Barangay Calumpang and killed the assailants on the spot.

Investigators are trying to identify slain gunmen. /cbb
