Salisi gang member nabbed at Naia Terminal 3
MANILA, Philippines — Airport authorities have arrested a Salisi gang member who victimizes overseas Filipino workers (OFW) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).
Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) General Manager Ed Monreal identified the suspect as Rey John Manglay, 24.
“Ang modus po nito is nakikipag-kaibigan sa mga bagong dating na pasahero lalo na ang ating mga kababayan na OFW (His modus operandi is to befriend newly arrived OFWs),” Monreal said in a press briefing on Monday.
The Miaa chief said that Manglay has victimized more than 20 OFWs.
Manglay was arrested on Sunday around 8 p.m. at the Naia terminal 3. Airport authorities recognized him through the CCTV footage at the terminal.
Manglay’s arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Harija Panayaman Hamsa, a household worker in Kuwait.
Hamsa said that Manglay welcomed her at Naia terminal 1 and later accompanied her to terminal 3. When she went to the bathroom, she entrusted her belongings to Manglay. But he stole her belongings with an estimated value of around P200,000.
Monreal said Manglay is using different names when conducting his modus operandi. Charges are now being prepared against Manglay. /ee
