2 arrested for bribe try on policeman in Valenzuela
MANILA, Philippines — Two were arrested in Valenzuela City for allegedly trying to bribe a policeman with P500 after he flagged down their motorcycle in a police checkpoint.
Police identified the suspects as Gilbert Lara, 26, and Rain Mesina, 23, whose motorcycle was flagged down at a checkpoint on Sunday.
According to a report from the Northern Police District on Monday, Patrolman Reinald Romulo Limosnero noticed that backrider Mesina was not wearing a safety helmet, prompting the policeman to apprehend them.
Police said the duo then tried to bribe Limosnero with P500 for them not to be issued a violation receipt. Limosnero did not accept the bribe but continued to inform the suspects of their offense, but the two still allegedly tried to resist arrest.
The motorcycle of the suspects was impounded at Valenzuela City Action Center, according to police.
