MANILA, Philippines – Opposition Senate candidates on Wednesday opted to reach out to the people in Manila’s Quiapo district after the debate they proposed failed to materialize.

Otso Diretso candidates Gary Alejano, Chel Diokno, Pilo Hilbay, Romulo Macalintal and Erin Tañada instead went on a meet and greet activity in and around Plaza Miranda in Quiapo.

While some pro -administration bets from Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) slate expressed willingness to debate with their rivals, prior commitments got in the way.
