2 gunrunning suspects killed in Manila shootout

MANILA, Philippines — Two gunrunning suspects were killed in a gun battle following a buy-bust operation here Friday.

Police said Martin Gomez and his still unidentified accomplice, sold a .45 caliber pistol for P10,000 to an undercover officer at around 3:15 a.m..

The suspects, however, aimed their firearms at the officer and sped off towards Lawton.

Police said the suspects also bypassed the checkpoint set up by the Ermita Police Station near the Manila City Hall.

The ensuing gun battle  led to the death of Gomez.

His accomplice expired an hour later at Ospital ng Maynila.

Recovered from the crime scene were a motorcycle sans a license plate number, three loaded guns, several sachets of shabu, marked peso bills and Gomez’s identification card. / gsg
