Narco-politicians to be identified within election period – DILG chief  

MANILA, Philippines – The government’s list of so-called narco-politicians or politicians involved in illegal drugs will be released within the election period, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Friday.

Año said the DILG will coordinate with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on the matter.

Año later said in a radio interview that it will be released within the election period.

“Lalabas iyang listahan na iyan, within this election period. Kailangan ng ating constituents na malaman kung sino itong mga ito.”

(The list will be released. Within this election period. The constituents need to know who these politicians are.)

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said he supports the release of the list to the public.

Año said the list could be a guide for voters on who they should not support in the upcoming elections.

He also assured that concerned government agencies are validating the list before it can be publicized.

PDEA chief Director General Aaron Aquino earlier said the list includes 83 personalities. / gsg
