MANILA, Philippines – Fueled by criticisms on his educational attainment, action star and former senator Lito Lapid on Wednesday vowed to pursue education and pro-poor bills if reelected to the Senate.
Eh ano ang magagawa natin eh pinanganak lang tayo ng labandera eh,” Lapid told reporters, before the start of his first press conference since filing his certificate of candidacy for senator.
(I am always criticized for my lack of formal education. What can I do, I am just the son of a laundrywoman.)

Lapid said he has unfinished business in the Senate.
(I have sponsored some 500 bills, I need to have some of those passed, particularly those that will benefit the poor.)
Lapid completed three terms as governor of Pampanga before he was elected to the Senate in 2004 and was re-elected for a second term in 2010.
In early 2017, he joined the regular cast of ABS-CBN’s “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
