MANILA, Philippines —Reelectionist Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday kicked off the first day of the campaign period with school children in a feeding program in Payatas, Quezon City, unaccompanied by other candidates running for the midterm elections.
Poe, who has been a consistent frontrunner in the pre-election senatorial surveys, is seeking reelection as an independent candidate in the upcoming midterm polls.
She is the only candidate among the seven reelectionist senators who neither belongs to any political party.
On Wednesday, Poe and some reelectionist senators are also set to hold a campaign rally in Tondo, Manila.
Meanwhile, other senatorial aspirants have also started their campaign in different areas.
The opposition slate kicked off their campaign in Caloocan City while the candidates endorsed or are under the party of presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP), brought their campaign trail in San Fernando, Pampanga. /jpv
