MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will be the prevailing weather over the extreme northern monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecast disclosed on Saturday.

Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said that Batanes and the Babuyan group of Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to amihan.

No flashfloods or landslides are to be expected with the effect of the northeast monsoon, Mendoza said.

Meanwhile, the Palawan province may also experience isolated rainshowers but caused by localized thunderstorms.

Mendoza added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with low chance of rains. /jpv
