Ex-village exec in Eastern Samar nabbed for firearms, ammunition
TACLOBAN CITY — A former village official in Eastern Samar was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition on Thursday morning.
Edwin Pomasin, 52, was detained at the municipal lockup facility after he was arrested inside his house in Barangay Carolina, Can-avid town, where he once served as its village chairman.
Reports reaching the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas based in Palo town, Leyte, said Can-avid police and Regional Special Operations Group members raided the house of Pomasin with a search warrant.
Seized from Pomasin were one grenade; one caliber .45 pistol; one magazine for caliber .45; 14 live ammunition for caliber .45; 12 pieces live ammunition for caliber .38; one ammunition for caliber .38; one live ammunition for caliber .40; 13 pieces live ammunition for caliber 5.56 M16 Rifle; four pieces assorted magazines; one silencer for Ingram sub-machine gun; four holster for caliber .45; two magazines pouches for caliber .45; and one piece holster for caliber 9mm.
Also confiscated were three sachets of suspected shabu worth about P3,000 and one sachet of suspected marijuana./lzb
