Downpour delays Arroyo trip; choppers circling around hospitals
MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rain pounded Metro Manila during the morning of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s scheduled transfer from St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.
Journalists waited outside the main gate of the hospital despite the deluge, awaiting confirmation from authorities on how Arroyo would travel.
At the VMMC, sources said that an ambulance with several personnel on standby equipped with a wheel chair, were seen near the hospital’s helipad.
Meanwhile, helicopters were also seen circling St. Luke’s.
Arroyo is under arrest for electoral sabotage.
