Bam Aquino denounces mosque grenade blast in Zamboanga
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Bam Aquino on Wednesday denounced the blast that hit a mosque in Zamboanga City as he called on authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We strongly denounce this act of violence in Zamboanga City. The authorities must leave no stone unturned to bring those behind this heinous act to justice, but without risking the lives and welfare of innocent civilians,” he said in a statement.
He then urged the public to “come together” to condemn violence following the attack as he said that it is the goal of terrorists “to divide us.”
“Now is the time to come together to denounce violence as it has no place in our society,” Aquino said.
“Manatili tayong mapagbantay at huwag hayaang manaig ang karahasan. Patuloy tayong magsikap para sa kapayapaan sa Mindanao,” he added.
Two were killed and three were left wounded after a grenade exploded inside a Mahardika mosque in Logoy Diutay, Barangay Talon-talon early Wednesday. /je
