Cops kill notorious robber in Lucena
LUCENA CITY – A suspected robber was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest in Lucena City early Tuesday, police said.
Responding policemen caught Jeric Aureada, 35, trying to rob Colmax Steel and Builders Supply in Barangay Isabang at 12:55 a.m., said Supt. Reydante Ariza, Lucena police chief, said in a report.
Earlier, the police hotline received information from a concerned citizen who reported spotting the suspect while about to rob the establishment located along the Maharlika Highway.
When the policemen were about to make the arrest, the suspect suddenly pulled his caliber .38 revolver and shot the arresting policemen but missed his target.
Another policeman quickly retaliated and fired at Aureada who died on the spot.
Police tagged Aureada as a notorious robber and was responsible for the series of “gupit bubong” (roof cutting) robbery incidents in the city. DELFIN T. MALLARI JR. /lzb
