Kiko on Traslacion 2019: Faith, tenacity make us overcome life’s hurdles
MANILA, Philippines — As Catholics celebrate the annual procession of the Black Nazarene image, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan urged the faithful to dedicate a simple prayer for “peace, unity, and less hardship” for the country.
“It is our faith and tenacity that make us overcome life’s hurdles, realize our dreams, and reach our goals,” the Liberal Party president said in a statement on Wednesday.
“May the spirit of solidarity during this celebration rouse us all into collective action towards uplifting the lives of our people.”

Traslacion commemorates the transfer of a replica of the image of the Black Nazarene from its original site at the San Nicolas Tolentino church in Intramuros to the Quiapo church on Jan. 9, 1787.
Traslacion — regarded as the single biggest religious gathering in the predominantly Catholic Philippines — is currently heading to its beyond-6-kilometer journey to Quiapo Church. /je
