Alleged Batocabe slay mastermind shares Bible quotes on FB

MANILA, Philippines — Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo started sharing Bible quotes on his Facebook account after the Philippine National Police (PNP) identified him as the suspected mastermind behind the murder of Ako Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his police escort, SPO1 Orlando Diaz.

On Friday, Baldo shared a verse from Deuteronomy 12:9: “For you have not yet come to the final stop and inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.”

“Not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness – a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness,” the post read.

Meanwhile, most of the netizens’ comments were supportive of the Daraga mayor and prayed that his innocence could be proven.

Some were decrying “public judgment” which was not a true way to “obtain true justice.”

Some Facebook users said Baldo was just falsely accused on the murder.

On Thursday, Baldo denied that he orchestrated the killing of Batocabe and Diaz after PNP filed cases of double murder and multiple frustrated homicide against him.

“I did not order the deaths of anyone. I did not kill Cong. Batocabe and SPO2 Diaz,” Baldo said.
