MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Friday assured the public there would be “no whitewash” in the investigation of the son of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Nicanor Faeldon who was arrested by police in a drug raid in Naga City.

A Police report said Nicanor Faeldon Jr. was arrested in the house of a certain Russel Lanuzo Bermudo in Barangay Mabolo in Naga City during an anti-drug operation.

“We assure that there will be no whitewash on the ongoing investigation in adherence with the Administration’s firm resolve to curb illegal drugs in the country,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panlelo said in a statement.

Faeldon vowed he would resign and would “personally obliterate” his son if the latter is proven to be involved in illegal drug activities.

“The Palace likewise commends BuCor chief Faeldon for taking a principled stand of distancing himself from the investigation, for letting police authorities do the job of probing said incident, and for offering to resign once the allegation is proven true,” Panelo said.  /muf
