USC South-White dumps BIR in USC-PTCA hoops
USC South-White trounced undermanned Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-Cebu, 81-74, last Sunday for its 4th win in five games in the USC Parents, Teachers Community Association (USC-PTCA) 2011 Christmas basketball tournament at the USC Girls High School covered court.
USC South-White took a slim, 14-11 lead in the opening period but padded its advantage to a commanding 23 points with a blistering 33-13 rally in the second for a, 47-24 bulge at the half.
BIR responded with a fierce, 22-13 run in the third to trim its deficit to 14 markers, 46-60, entering the final stretch.
In the fourth period, BIR coach Norwin Honoridez employed a man-to-man defense that allowed them to outscore USC South-White, 28-21, but failed to overhaul their deficit.
Frankie Lastimoso and Roy Melgo led USC South-White with 23 and 20 points, respectively while Jerson Espinosa and Kim Valenzuela paced BIR with 26 and 22 points, respectively. BIR dropped to 2-2.
