Duterte gives P50k Christmas bonus to Office of the President staff

Employees of the Office of the President (OP) will receive P50, 000 Chrismas bonus, President Rodrigo Duterte announced Monday during the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in Malacañang.

Initially, Duterte said OP employees will receive the usual P30, 000 bonus plus P10, 000.

But as he went on with his speech, he said: “P30k papunta ng P40k ‘yan. Wow, huwag niyo akong kalimutan ah, maski ballpen na lang. Okay na ‘yan o kulang pa?”

But after a chat with his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the President said he would raise the bonus of OP staff to P50, 000.

“Sabi ni Inday bakit naman kayo, Maynila, National Capital (Region) P40k, ang bigay doon sa Davao P50k,” he said.

“So, hindi tayo magpalugi sa Davao. Sabi ko kay [Rizalina Justol] wala akong pakialam magnakaw ka na, dispakulhin mo ‘yang pera basta gawain mong P50k. It’s gonna be P50k. Okay na ‘yan,” he added.

Justol is the deputy executive secretary for finance and administration at the Office of the President. /kga
