ZAMBOANGA CITY— Isabela City residents found a decomposing body in the innermost part of the city’s Sampinit Complex Friday morning.
Police Superintendent Gilzen Niño Manese, police chief of Isabela City in Basilan, said the loggers, all residents of Barangay Mazola, Isabela City, had alerted the police about it on Friday, but the body was no longer recognizable.
The remains were brought to Villa Funeral Homes.
Personnel of the Scene of Crime Operatives (SOCO) are still trying to determine the cause of death and to establish the identity of the remains.
Police said Sampinit Complex had been a mountainous part in Isabela City known as a stronghold of Puruji Indama, the Abu Sayyaf chief based in Basilan. /ee
