Cops nab 8 foreigners, 24 Filipinos for internet fraud

Eight foreigners and 24 Filipinos were arrested by the police in Pasig City Thursday for alleged internet fraud.

An initial report from the police said three citizens of the United States, three British, one Canadian, and one from Ghana, Africa were arrested by operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) in coordination with the Pasig City Police.

The US Homeland Security, the Internet Fraud Watchdog, and local officials were also present during the operation.

Seized from the suspects were several computer units, modem routers, Voice over Internet Protocol phones, mobile phones, and other related documents including scripts. /jpv
