Police revoke teenager’s new driver’s license for overspeeding, 49 minutes after getting it

A teenager in Germany got his driver’s license revoked for overspeeding, 49 minutes after he first got it.

Authorities in the German town of Hemer, caught the 18-year-old, who was unidentified, driving home after acing his driver’s license exam, the Facebook page of the local police said on Tuesday.

Police said the teenager’s speed was 95 kph (60 mph) in a road where the speed limit was only 50 kph (30 mph).

The post also read the driver was with four friends at the time he was caught, and apparently was showing off that he could now drive.

As punishment, the driver was slapped with a  €200 ($228 or around P11,930) fine. His license has been revoked for four weeks, but police said he will be allowed once he goes on “expensive retraining,” as per the BBC.
