Housing chair fired

President Duterte has fired Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Secretary General Falconi Millar due to alleged corruption.

“There are no sacred cows in the administration, especially in its drive against corruption,” said presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

“As the President said, he will not tolerate even a whiff of corruption in the executive branch of government,” Panelo added in a statement.

No disruption

“We assure the public that the delivery of public services shall continue, especially in rehabilitating Marawi City and other affected areas,” he said.

Panelo did not detail the corruption allegations against Millar that got him the boot.

Millar’s termination came less than a week after the President said during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Papua New Guinea that he would fire another government official upon his return to the Philippines.

Same official

Mr. Duterte had not identified the official or the reason the official would be fired.

Panelo’s statement was silent if Millar was the official being referred to by Mr. Duterte.
