Queen City A, San Roque book 2nd straight victory

The Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) A and San Roque Football Club (SRFC) Arsenal topped their respective brackets in the Men’s Open after winning their assignments yesterday in the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

CQCU A took the solo lead with six points after a 6-0 routing of Erco FC.

Other teams posting wins in Bracket A were Subangdaku Football Club (SFC), who inflicted a 9-1 demolition of Sumaba, and Don Bosco United Football Club (DBUFC) B, who barged into the win column with a 5-3 edging of Panalpina World Transport.

In Bracket B, SRFC Arsenal also padded its points for a current total of six with a 3-1 edging of Azco.

In the Players 10, DBTC 1 completed a 14-1 annihilation of the Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS) for its first win in the tournament.

Its sister teams, DBTC 4 and DBTC 5, followed suit with impressive victories of their own.

DBTC 4 thrashed Mactan Air Base Elementary School (MABES), 12-1, while DBTC 5 edged Giuseppe FC, 1-0.

DBTC 3 split its two matches. In its first game, the team inflicted a 5-0 blanking of Mandaue Technical Institute (MTI) but later bowed to HIS, 0-2, in its second match of the day.

Other matches saw SFC blanking SRFC, 4-0; Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) outsmarting Springdale FC, 6-2; and Bright Academy with a spectacular whipping of Bright Minds Active Learning Village (BMALV), 9-0.
