PCOO creates Global Media Affairs to address foreign journos’ queries
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has announced the creation of the Office for Global Media Affairs to address concerns and queries from foreign media regarding issues in the country.
“Itong opisina ng Global Media Affairs, ito po iyong mamamahala sa mga concerns or mga questions, mga tanong ng iba’t ibang mga foreign correspondents, hindi lang sa Pilipinas kung hindi sa buong mundo,” Andanar said in an interview over Radyo Singko on Sunday.
Andanar said that former television reporter and former media specialist in the Asia-Pacific Media Hub of the US State Department Jayvee Arcena would lead the Office for Global Media Affairs.
Arcena had started working on constructing the new office’s mechanisms and workflow last week, Andanar noted.
“We’ve worked with Jayvee for such a long time, we know that he’s very hard working, he is a leader, he is an initiator… The guy who can think original ideas,” Andanar said.
The Presidential Communications chief also said the creation of the new office was made in anticipation of the possible return of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).
