Duterte denies gov’t hand in lawyer’s murder: ‘Why would I kill a lawyer?’

“Why would I kill a lawyer?”

President Rodrigo Duterte denied Thursday that the government was behind the killing of human rights lawyer Benjamin Ramos, who was gunned down in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental late Tuesday.

“Kami pa ang pagbibintangan ang gobyerno (The goverment is being blamed for his death). What the fucking shit? Why would I kill a lawyer? Napaka-small time (It’s small time),” Duterte said during the distribution of land titles in Boracay.
