Earth Run organizers confident of drawing enough participants
THE organizers of the first ever Earth Run 2011 of the Solar Sports Entertainment Channel are confident of accumulating enough runners to join their race despite another running event which will also kick off on the same day.
The race, slated on Dec. 18 clashes with the Cebu Leg of the Unilab Run United. The Earth Run will be held in Mandaue City while the Unilab run will be in Cebu City.
Christian Cortes, race director of Earth Run which will start at the Parkmall Mandaue, expressed confidence that they will be able to gather enough runners because of the support of the Mandaue City government and the private sector.
The race will have the 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k categories.
“We already knew about the other race, but its up to the runners which race they will join in. What’s important for us is to lend our help to GreenPeace’s its environmental advocacy,” said Cortes during yesterday’s official race launching at the Bob Marlin Grill in Parkmall.
The race was originally slated on Dec. 11 but was moved due to some concerns, said Cortes who revealed that he had to turn down some interested sponsors to prevent commercialization.
