Quiapo fire kills teenage boy

A teenage boy was killed when a fire broke out in a residential area in Quiapo, Manila on Monday.

According to Senior Fire Inspector Lucio Albarracin, 13-year-old Alexander Reyes Lionel was sleeping when the fire broke out and was trapped inside their house.

Albarracin said the fire started at 12:47 p.m. and was declared out at 3:06 p.m.

More or less 45 families and 15 houses were affected while damage based on structure was initially estimated to amount to approximately P50,000.

Albarracin noted that the structures were made of light materials. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire. /ee
