Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 148 Presiding Judge Andres Soriano shared a bit of advice for those who would be taking the 2018 bar examinations this November.

“First thing you should do is know yourself. What subjects are you poor in, what are you strong in. Focus on subjects that you feel you are weak at, Of course don’t forget in what you are strong at. Balance it with your strongest subject. You have to maintain and see and balance everything,” Soriano said in an interview with AM radio station DZMM.

The judge also told lawyers who would want to enter the judiciary to continue to do good in their profession.

“Yung lawyers who want to be judges just go on what you are doing or what you practice. Don’t forget that you are there for a reason,” he said. “If you want to do the best serve your government and serve the country well in good so at the proper time you should come forward.”

Soriano was the judge ruled against the claim of Solicitor General Jose Calida and President Rodrigo Duterte that Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV did not comply with the basic requirements for applying for amnesty.

In 2010, then President Benigno Aquino issued Proclamation No. 75 which granted Trillanes amnesty, extinguishing his criminal liability in cases filed against him when he was still a Navy officer – a coup d’etat case arising from the 2003 Oakwood Munity and a rebellion case arisin grom the 2007 Manila Peninsula Siege.

In August 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte issued Proclamation No. 572 which revoked that amnesty. /atm
