Security guard dies after being ran over by truck on Delpan Bridge

A security guard was killed after he was ran over by a trailer truck on Manila’s Delpan Bridge.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), victim Darwin Erandio Puso was aboard his bicycle and was pedaling on the northbound direction of the bridge when he was hit by the trailer truck driven by Christian Pentinio Panaligan.

The MPD said the incident happened at the portion of the bridge near the Delpan Evacuation Center in Binondo at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigation showed that Puso’s bicycle was hit by the right side of the trailer truck.

Police said Puso then lost control of his bicycle and fell on the pavement. At this point, the rear right wheel of the trailer truck ran him over, killing him instantly.

Panaligan, the MPD said, will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. He is now under police custody.

The case has been referred to the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office, the MPD said. /muf
