3 killed, 8 hurt in Zambales road accident
IBA, Zambales – Three persons were killed while eight others were injured when a commuter van was struck by another vehicle at the National Highway in Barangay (village) San Agustin here on Wednesday.
Emmanuel Villar, 43, driver of the UV Express unit; Joseph Elmark Macadaan, the 26-year-old driver of a Hummer Jeep; and his passenger Aldrin De Guia, 20, were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, said Senior Insp. Noemi Diaz, commander of Iba Municipal Police Station.
The accident hurt eight van passengers — Mark Joseph Mayo, 21; Annabel Morados, 31; Joymee Maranoc, 29; Jeffery Edejer, 42; Christelle Quito, 24; Mark Ryan Achacoso, 23; Elane Castro, 22; and Janine Gonzales, 25. They are being treated at a local hospital for various injuries.
Citing a passenger’s account, the police said the UV Express unit was headed north when the Hummer, which was proceeding south, swerved to the opposite lane and crashed into the van.
