Cops nab Guatemalan for drinking alcohol in public, possession of shabu

A foreign national has been arrested for drinking liquor in a public place in Makati and possessing illegal drugs, police said on Saturday.

The man was identified by the Makati Police as Romeolouis Marcel Kouankekang, 31, a Guatemalan national and resident of Taguig City.

The police said that Kouankekang was arrested Friday early morning along Obrero St., Barangay Olympia, Makati City as authorities were conducting patrols in the area.

The suspect was caught while drinking liquor in the street.  Arresting officers Police Officer 1 Rosendo Glodo, Police Officer 1 Effraim Aguila and two barangay tanods said it is against the city ordinance to drink alcohol in an public area.

As per Standard Operational Procedure, Glodo requested the suspect to empty his pocket and found two pieces of plastic sachet of suspected shabu.

Kouankekang was then brought to the precinct for documentation and subsequently brought at Osmak Pembo for medical and physical examination. /jpv
