A teen student shocked his school after baking the cremated remains of a grandparent into cookies and sharing them with classmates.
The student came from the DaVinci Charter Academy in Sacramento, California, USA. Davis city police said at least nine students ate the ash-laced cookies, according to a report by CBS Sacramento.
The cookies were found to be sugar cookies brought to school by a student. Police are looking into two high school students who might have been part of the plan to make and share the cookies.
Davis Police Lt. Paul Doroshov was surprised at the uniqueness of the incident.
“No, this is a weird one,” he said. “I have not heard of anyone getting sick or anybody being harmed as far as physically, physiologically by this.”
He added, “This is so unconventional, it would take more research.”
The Davis Joint Union School District said in a statement that it could not comment on confidential student matters. However, it assured the public that the incident was being investigated. Alfred Bayle /ra
