“I’m not a businessman. I’m not an economist.”
This was the reply of senatorial aspirant Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa when asked by reporters on how he would address the problem on inflation in case he gets elected as legislator.
Dela Rosa, a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief and head of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) until he filed his certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Election (Comelec) in Intramuros, Manila on Friday, admitted that he is not knowledgeable about inflation.
“Sa totoo lang, hindi ako masyadong magaling diyan. Wala man lang akong alam diyan,” Dela Rosa said in a chance interview.
“I’m not a businessman. I’m not an economist,” he added.
Dela Rosa asserted that he is a law enforcer and so he would focus on the country’s peace and order situation.
Nevertheless, he seemed to have a solution on how he could address his lack of knowledge on inflation and other similar issues if he becomes a Senator —- hire researchers to teach him.
“Eh ‘di magpatulong. Kung sakaling mananalo ka eh ‘di mag-hire ka ng mga researchers, ‘yung mga magagaling diyan na tutulungan ka,” he said.
Dela Rosa filed his COC for senator under the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban). /kga
