The killing of Executive Judge Edmundo Pintac of the Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court could be linked to criminal cases he had handled against the Parojinogs, Director General Oscar Albayalde, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.
Pintac, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Monday, was said to be the one who presided over the drugs and firearms cases filed against siblings Nova Princess Parojinog and Reynaldo Parojinog Jr., who were arrested in police raids in July 2017.

Their father, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., and six other people were killed in a series of police raids in the same month.

“That’s one [angle],” Albayalde said in Filipino during an ambush interiew. “That’s one strong angle that we’re looking into as of this time because we can’t find any other lead and because that judge didn’t seem to have any enemies.”

Aside from the case on Parojinogs, Albayalde said Pintac had also handled a case against a senior police officer.
He refused to name the office since investigation is still ongoing.
Albayalde clarified, however, that investigators had not yet identified persons of interest related to the killing.
PNP has already created a Special Investigation Task Group to handle the case. /atm
