CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Executive Judge Edmundo Pintac of the Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court was killed by still unidentified assailants in Ozamiz City Monday afternoon, the police said.

Pintac was gunned down in Purok 2-B, Barangay Banadero in Ozamiz, at around 4:20 p.m. on Monday while he was heading home in Bañadero village., according to Supt. Surki Sereñas, spokesperson of the Northern Mindanao Police Regional Office.

Witnesses said the gunmen were on board a motorcycle that chased Pintac’s car when he slowed down to negotiate a right turn toward the compound of his rented home.

Senior Supt. Emmanuel Hebron, chief of the Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office, said he had not yet received any report indicating whether Pintac received a death threat before the shooting.

Hebron said the judge was provided with a police officer as his security escort.

Meanwhile, investigators had not determined the motive of the killing. /atm
