Palace: Marcos cool to dialogues on Sara Duterte impeachment
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not open to dialogues regarding the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, a Palace official said on Tuesday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the clarification in response to Senate President Francis Escudero’s statement that there is no need for Malacañang to intervene in the standoff between the House of Representatives and the Senate over the impeachment issue.
Pimentel welcomes Marcos’ hands-off stance on Sara Duterte impeachment
Amid all the debates surrounding the impeachment case of Vice President Sara Duterte, the silence of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is a welcome development, Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said during the Kapihan sa Senado forum on Tuesday.
According to Pimentel, the 1987 Constitution states that the President should not have a role in the impeachment process because he himself is impeachable.

Impeachment court spokesperson Reginald Tongol explained the grounds that may lead senator-judges to inhibit in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
In an interview with DZMM on Tuesday, Tongol stated that, based on the Rules of Court, senator-judges can be removed from a trial through “voluntary disqualification” and “mandatory inhibition.”

A former police officer was arrested in Quezon City on Monday afternoon on sedition charges over his social media posts following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
In an initial report sent to the media on Tuesday, the QCPD said that the police district served the arrest warrant against Francis Steve Fontillas for the charge of inciting to sedition in relation to Section 6 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act or Republic Act 10175.
