Ex-Coast Guard member shoots wife dead, kills self in Cebu City

CEBU CITY—A former Coast Guard member allegedly shot his estranged dead wife before killing himself inside their house in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City on Friday night.

Police identified the victims as Aldrin Cabo, and his wife, Gina, both 48.

Police said Aldrin reportedly shot his wife before shooting himself.

Senior Supt. Royina Garma, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director who was at the scene of the incident, said the shooting was reported at past 11 p.m.

Vince Monterde, the administrator of Barangay Inayawan, said the couple separated last year.

Monterde said prior to the shooting, Gina went to the barangay hall to asked for the issuance of a restraining order against her husband whom she accused of being violent.

Inayawan Barangay Captain Bryan Repollo said jealousy could have triggered the shooting. /muf
