Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said he is considering inviting Solicitor General Jose Calida in the hearing set by the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 148 on October 5.

Trillanes alleged that Calida stole his documents pertaining to his amnesty application, which was granted by the previous administration.

“We are contemplating na ipatawag mismo si Calida [to invite Calida himself],” he said in a press briefing on Friday shortly after the RTC released an order that deferred issuing a warrant of arrest against the senator.

But asked if he is looking forward to seeing the Solicitor General being grilled at the hearing, he said after posing a more serious look: “I am not excited to see that face ever.”

Trillanes also said that he will ask the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee — assigned on investigating public officials — to conduct an investigation into Calida’s alleged anomalous contracts with government agencies.

Aside from Calida, Trillanes said he will also advise the committee to probe Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go for allegedly having a hand on government projects bagged by his relatives.

In an earlier press briefing prior to the release of the court order, the senator also said that he will consider the suggestion of Atty. Jamael Jacob, former director of the National Privacy Commission, to investigate the alleged missing papers for a possible data breach.

“Aayusin lang namin ito, itong [We will just fix this] primary or major legal issues then definitely and surely, we will run after those responsible for the docs [documents] of my application, [my] amnesty documents,” he said.

Calida earlier demanded an apology from Trillanes or, otherwise, he will file a libel case against the senator for accusing him of being a thief.
