Trillanes to AFP, DND: Show some balls, stand up for the truth
Show some balls and stand up for the truth.
Opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV made this call to the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Department of National Defense (DND) on Wednesday as he continued to question Proclamation 572.
The proclamation was issued by President Rodrigo Duterte, revoking the amnesty granted to the senator by the previous administration because of his alleged failure to file an application and admit his guilt on his role in past uprisings.

But the senator has repeatedly denied Duterte’s claim, insisting that he submitted all the necessary documents required for the grant of amnesty.

Calida is Solicitor General Jose Calida whom Trillanes has accused of orchestrating the revocation of his amnesty.
“Alam nila yung katotohanan dito. Alam nila yung ginagawa sa akin is unjust and yet they are tolerating it out of fear of Mr. Duterte or Mr. Calida?” the senator went on. “Sa akin dapat magkaroon ng bayag itong AFP and DND leadership to say publicly na meron akong application form at mali yung contention nitong kanilang commander in chief.”
(They know the truth here. They know that what they are doing to me is unjust; and yet, they are tolerating it out of fear of Mr. Duterte or Mr. Calida. The AFP and DND leadership should have the balls to say publicly that I filled out an application form and that the contention of their commander in chief is wrong.)
All these problems would disappear, he said, if the AFP and the DND would only stand up for the truth.
“Kung magpapakalaki sila, titindig sila para sa tama, matatapos itong problema na ito (If they would be man enough to stand up for what is right, this problem will be solved),” Trillanes said.
“Regardless kung kahit galit sila sa akin on a personal level at magkakaiba man yung aming paninidigan sa aming pulitka, pero yung sa tama pare-parehas kami dapat (Regardless of whether they are mad at me on a personal level— our political beliefs are different — we should all stand up for what is right),” he said. /ee
