‘Paeng’ slows down; Northern Luzon to experience rain by Friday
Typhoon “Paeng” (international name: Trami) continued to slow down midday Tuesday, while moving west northwest, the state weather bureau said.
Paeng was spotted 720 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), and packing maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 245 kph,
Northern Luzon will experience light to moderate rain starting Friday, Pagasa said.
However, the western section of the country will have light to moderate rain on Wednesday.
Pagasa earlier said that while Paeng is inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), it will spare the country with its destructive impact since its track aims for Taiwan or Japan area.
Paeng is expected to exit PAR on Saturday. /kga
