Former national police chief and now Bureau of Corrections head Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is prepared to take on the role of being a politician, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Wednesday.
In an interview, Lacson – also a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief before becoming a senator, said: “Biased ako, ‘yung pinanggalingan ko ‘yun ang pwesto niya. So prepared siya (I am biased, where I came from was his post. So he is prepared).”
Dela Rosa earlier announced that he will run for senator under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party in the 2019 elections.

Lacson said he knew Dela Rosa to be a “competent public servant” when the BuCor chief was still part of the Mindanao Task Group under the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force during the senator’s stint as national police chief.
“Magbasa ng magbasa. Makinig ka sa kasamahan mo, at gawin mo ang trabaho mo. Matututo ka (Do a lot of reading. Listen to your colleagues, and do your job well. You will learn),” he advised Dela Rosa. /kga
