If he had his way, actor Robin Padilla himself would arrest opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Padilla went to the Senate again on Wednesday, hoping to witness personally the arrest of the senator.
“Lahat naman kami dito alam naming na walang warrant, kasi kung may warrant andun na ho ako sa loob,” the actor told reporters in an interview at the parking lot of the Senate.
Asked why he would go inside the Senate, Padilla said, “Aba, may citizen’s arrest.”
Asked again if he would then arrest Trillanes, the actor said; “May citizen’s arrest, di ba? Kahit kayo pwede ninyo siyang arestuhin. Ayaw n’yo?”
“Di ba automatic yun? Nasa batas po yun, basta mayroong kriminal sa harapan mo, at nandiyan, at ikaw ay citizen ng Pilipinas,” Padilla said.
Pressed if he himself would arrest Trillanes, Padilla said: “Kaya nga po ako nandito.”
Padilla said that “along with 100 million Filipinos,” he would like to see Trillanes being arrested.
As an ordinary citizen, he said he also wants to see the law being followed, citing his own experience as an example.
Padilla was convicted for illegal possession of firearms in 1994 and jailed until he was pardoned by former President Fidel Ramos in 1997 .
In 2016, the actor was granted absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte. /vvp
