Aquino: Revocation of Trillanes amnesty needs Congress nod
Senator Bam Aquino believes that just as the amnesty for Sen. Antonio Trillanes was approved by Congress, its revocation would need the legislation’s concurrence.
“‘Yong amnesty na binigay kay Senator Trillanes may concurrence ‘yon ng Kongreso. Kailangan rin ng concurrence ng Senado at Kongreso,” Aquino said Tuesday.
Aquino also said that Trillanes could not be arrested because he had not heard of amnesty that was already granted being revoked, and the president’s proclamation did not translate to an arrest order.
“Pangalawa, hindi pa ako nakakarinig ng amnesty na ni-revoke. It seems like it might be the first time this has happened in our history,” the senator noted.
“‘Yong pagsabi na pwede na siyang arestuhin ulit is also a big question. Meron bang warrant of arrest? Pwede ka bang mag-aresto based on a presidential proclamation. Hindi ba galing dapat sa korte dapat ‘yon?” he asked.
