Opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday dismissed reports that President Rodrigo Duterte was in a coma, saying “bad weeds won’t easily die.”
He made the remark in an ambush interview after the mass held to commemorate the 35th death anniversary of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque City.
Reports claimed that Duterte fell ill last Saturday night when he attended the national convention of his fraternity, Lex Talionis Fraternitas in Davao City.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go both denied this.

On Monday night, Go even posted on Facebook a live stream of the President having dinner with a woman to prove that he was well.

Trillanes meanwhile branded as another “drama” Duterte’s earlier statements that he’s already tired and he would be stepping down if former Senator Bongbong Marcos wins over his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
“People should not fall for that. Sakin, kung mamamatay siya then, edi umattend na lang tayo ng burol, ganun lang, huwag ‘yung hihintayin natin kung kailan sya mamamatay o it will not come,” he said. /asu
