Suspected drug pusher killed in Romblon buy-bust
CITY OF CALAPAN – A suspected drug pusher was killed in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police on Tuesday afternoon in Odiongan town, Romblon province.
Supt. Imelda Tolentino, information officer of the Mimaropa police,
said police and drug agents conducted a buy-bust operation against Rolando Medina, 49.
The operation resulted to an armed encounter when Medina drew his firearm towards the operating team “upon sensing that he was transacting business with law enforcers,” near the Bongoy river in Barangay Liwanag around 3 p.m.
Tolentino said Medina, a resident of Barangay Malabanan, in Balete town, Batangas, was rushed to the Romblon Provincial Hospital but died on the way.
Recovered from Medina were a caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition and one spent shell, a plastic sachet containing suspected “shabu” or crystal meth worth about P30,000, a cell phone and wallet containing two identification cards. MADONNA T. VIROLA
