17 nabbed in Laguna anti-drug roundup

SAN PEDRO CITY — Seventeen suspected drug users were arrested in a mass police roundup in Biñan City in Laguna province.

Elsewhere in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon) region, police also arrested four people in separate buy bust operations early on Sunday.

Calabarzon police spokesperson Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, in a message, said police swooped down on a suspected drug area in Barangay (village) Canlalay, Biñan City, around 10 p.m. Saturday. She said 17 men were caught in the act of using “shabu” (crystal meth) by members of the city intelligence police.

The arrested suspects were tricycle drivers or unemployed residents from the cities of Biñan and San Pedro, as well as from Gen. Mariano Alvarez town in Cavite. The police recovered 16 sachets of alleged shabu from the group.

At around the same time in Rodriguez, Rizal, police arrested Norton Macarido and Ramir Raspe in Barangay San Jose.

In Balayan, Batangas, police recovered a sachet of suspected shabu from Mark Harnel Aguila, who was arrested in a buy bust operation around 2 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Ermita. /je
